A prehand over or a pre plaster inspection can pickup plumbing problems before they become major issues.

Why do I need a pre hand over or pre plaster inspection?

You are having your new home or extension built and would like a plumbing inspection conducted to identify any plumbing issues that may be there.

A standard pre plaster plumbing inspection checks the following:

  • Hot and cold water pipe work to ensure it has been clipped correctly

  • Gas pipe work to ensure it has been clipped correctly

  • Suspended drainage to check correct fall and that it has been clipped correctly

  • Guttering, roofing and down pipes

  • Installation of any heating and cooling duct work and pipe work

Common issues identified at a pre plaster inspection are

  • insufficient clipping of the pipe work that could cause water hammer

  • insufficient fall and clips on suspended drainage which can result in potential blockages in the future.

  • Incorrect fittings used

A standard pre handover plumbing inspection checks the following:

  • Hot and cold water pipe work to ensure it has been clipped correctly

  • Gas pipe work to ensure it has been clipped correctly

  • Visually check and test all plumbing fixtures in the home for correct installation and operation

  • Guttering, roofing and down pipes

  • Installation of any heating and cooling duct work and piping to ensure it has been installed correctly

Common issues identified at a pre handover inspection are

  • Incorrect installation of plumbing fixtures not meeting Australian Standards

  • Defects in the roofing and gutter installation

Additional inspections that can be added at the same time
  • CCTV inspection of the sewer and storm water drains to identify defects in the drain

  • Thermal imaging shows missing insulation in the walls and ceiling and can identify moisture from leaks that cannot be seen

The box gutter is not allowed to reduce in size at its outlet
